Accomplishments
- Leveled the playing field when she arrived in City Hall:
- Supported registration of lobbyists
- Supported citywide campaign finance reform
- Initiated “Citizens Presentations” so residents can address the Commission to present ideas and raise issues of concern
- Exposed the city’s fiscal crisis in 2003:
- Identified rampant waste, fraud and abuse in city manager’s budget
- Made the motion to replace the city manager
- Began steps to put the city on firm financial footing for the first time in years
- Continued the push for a more connected city throughout her tenure:
- Supported the downtown transit system
- Supported the long-range Beach Master Plan
- Promoted efforts to enhance neighborhood involvement in City Hall
